There are two categories of membership of the Society:
- Regular Membership for Australian and New Zealand citizens and/or their spouses, and
- Associate Membership for citizens of other countries who can demonstrate a bona fide connection with Australia or other support for their application (e.g. have lived in Australia for an extended period)
Membership fees are:

The membership fee covers the period from 1 April to 31 March the following year for 1 year memberships, or from 1 April to 31 March two years following for 2 year memberships. However, when joining after 31 December, membership will be valid until the end of the following membership period.
Members are entitled to special members-only ticket prices and ticket pre-sales to Australia Society events and subscription to In Brief - the newsletter of The Australia Society Tokyo.
