Fishing?  Dining?  A Seafood Chain Izakaya in Japan by Kuniko Noguchi

“Can you find an interesting and unusual restaurant to go to?"

One of my Australian friends said so when he told me that he would visit me in Tokyo.  “Well, hmmm.  An interesting and unusual restaurant…”  Then I just came up with ‘Zauo’, a seafood chain izakaya in Japan, which has a large wooden fishing boat in the center surrounded by fish pool area!

The main attraction is not only their unique setting but also fun activities:  Diners can rent fishing rods and catch their own for dinner.  The fishes in the tank vary in prices and kinds, and the fish you caught will be prepared to your liking, grilled, sashimi or BBQ.

If you don’t try fishing, you can simply pick up the menu, but definitely it is part of the fun to try this Zauo fishing experience.  Actually, I saw lots of families, couples, and friends squealing with delight, when they were successful in fishing.

The pictures here were taken in Shinjuku branch, but they have other branches in Kameido, Tsunashima in Yokohama and Saitama etc.
